Club W Review: A New Kind of ‘Wine Club’

Club W Review: A New Wine Club

Wine Club Revolutionizing How You Discover and Share Wine

I’m the first to admit, if it has anything to do with wine, I’m pretty much a sucker for it. I love finding new wines to drink, recommend and add to my party arsenal! So, when I noticed the Facebook ad for W Wine Club I was very intrigued.

Club W Review: A New Kind of Wine Club

Club W is a California startup offering small-lot wines shipped directly to your doorstep. Wines start at $13 with a minimum of a three bottle purchase. Best thing, if you don’t have the budget for the wine club – skip at your leisure.

Get Started With Club W

Start by picking a palate profile by answering a few questions, then Club W will select a variety of recommendations for you. To fill your fist box, pick any three from the options recommended, mix or match red or white wines of your choosing, and soon it will be on your doorstep.

I received my wine within two days of purchase, definitely fast shipping since they are located in California.  The packaging is outstanding and secure, the wines were cool and snug inside the black and purple box. Included in each shipment are descriptions of the wine, recipes that compliment each bottle, and a beautiful brochure explaining your benefits of the wine club.

Overall, the presentation is professional, modern and tailored made, really making you feel special. Once you are ready to try the wines you purchased, go back to the Club W website to check out their videos detailing more information about each wine as well as other food pairings.

There’s An App For That

After you taste the wine you might want to download the Club W app, which allows you to rate your wines, refine your Palate Profile, so recommendations become more tailored to your liking. Want to learn more and become a wine geek, Club W also has a pretty entertaining blog to expand your wine knowledge.

  1. A friend recommended this service, so I gave it a try. The wines were low quality with very simple flavor profiles and extremely short finishes. If you’re looking for something cheap that doesn’t taste bad, this is a good choice, but if you like wine, don’t bother.

More annoying was that cancellation was difficult. They don’t have any way to cancel on the site, nor via email, nor by calling them unless you call during business hours in their time zone. I was also charged a cancellation fee, which I always consider to be the sign of a less reputable vendor.

    • Thank you Anthony for your comment. I’m not affiliated with Club W in any way, and thought their concept was really neat, so I tried them out. I will say two out of first three bottles were just okay especially for the $13 price. However, I found an amazing gem that I don’t think I would have otherwise (Pacificana Zin). I just received my second box and the first bottle I opened was already superior to my first box. Personally, anything new will have some risk, especially wine, it’s just too subjective. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment! Hope you come back and read some of our other wine/beer reviews.

    • I felt the same way and ordered a box. So, far I really like everything! I wrote a review of the first bottle I opened, I’ll have that up before the giveaway expires. Thanks for the comment Rebecca!
