NY Fashion Week 2014 Recap

Every year at the end of August, I anxiously await Vogue’s September issue. Throughout the years I have collected quiet a few of them and enjoy flipping through the pages of older issues comparing styles and taking account of fashion trends. It’s a feeling of happiness and childhood dreams, I like to experience on a weekend morning sipping on a cup of coffee as I munch on a sweet chocolate bar. [Side note: Why is it, that fashion and chocolate go so good together?”]

The pages of Vogue’s September issue even smell better! Maybe it’s the bountiful collections of fragrance samples found inside an 800+ page magazine or maybe it’s the exuberant couture fashion so beautifully captured and directed by the iconic Grace Coddington.

This September issue traveled to Washington state with me this year.
Indulging in the work of amazing designers and their upcoming collections, I couldn’t help but wish for a brief moment to time travel to NY during Fashion Week for a few hours, then be transported back onto the oasis of my vacation destination: Guemes Island.  There’s nothing like getting a dose of future fashion straight from the exhilarating runways.

Instead, like many of you out there, that adore everything fashion, I have enjoyed the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week via web, tv and print. I have been a huge fan of Vogue Daily for years, however for the past 6 months I find it to be a source I frequent on a daily basis. A week later since NY Fashion Week 2014, I obsessively rewatch the collections thanks to New York Fashion Week Live  and recap the new fashions thanks to Vogue, Refinery 29 & many fashion blogs I love.

My favorite looks straight from the runway:
J. Mendel’s Spring 2015 Collection was edgy and bold with a modern print. I love the mix of frost blue, black and hot red.
Herve Ledger By Max Azria and Luis Antonio’s Collections were graphic and romantic.
I especially adored Luis Antonio’s cuts and prints.
Badgley Mischka – the most angelic and dreamy collection of all the September 2014 NY Runways.
The use of white with silver and gold, the short cropped tops remind me of a modern take on indian fashion.
Tommy Hilfiger’s tailored looks reasserted the love for the golden years of rock ‘n’ roll.

Here’s a list of my favorite finds to enjoy:
