Summer Vacay – New York

Things to Do, Places to Visit, Shopping and Dining

Summer is here and most of us have already planned this year’s summer vacation; K Lo. traveled to beautiful NYC and Boston during her summer vacay this year and I couldn’t be more jealous. Visiting NYC for both K Lo. and I has been and for me will remain a bucket list thing to do. In anticipation of K Lo.’s return (cannot wait to hear all about her experiences and see all the pics) I decided to do some research about vacationing in NYC and share my findings with all of our CG fans.

Since I have never traveled to NYC, it is a big deal to ensure that when I do, it will be a memorable experience.

To me NYC means:

No. 1 – Fashion Capital of the World

Since New York City is hosting the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week every year in September sometime around my birthday would be the ideal time to visit. Can you image a better time to visit? I certainly can’t. NYC and fashion is the perfect combo and I would be enjoying the experience even more by attending a couple fashion shows, such as G Star Raw and one of my favorite Project Runway finalists and winners Michele Lesniak Franklin. For a listing of attending designers check out: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Live

No. 2 – Art Mecca of the World

NYC is home to world renowned museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, American Museum of Natural History and many, many more. There’s even a Museum of the City of New York. The city alone is an art piece. The Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Times Square, 9/11 Memorial, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Grand Central Station and so many more. Here’s a great article from Lonely Planet on 40 Free Things to Do in New York City. To fully experience art at its finest in New York, a Broadway show is a must.

No. 3 – Shopping Capital of the World

Well, of course you have to plan on saving money to visit NYC. Why? Because shopping on Madison Avenue is an experience every girl must have. I have been obsessing about purchasing a pair of Manolos or Jimmy Choos in New York since HBO’s Sex and the City. I picture strutting in my brand new shoes wearing an audacious avant garde outfit on the streets of New York and hailing a cab to take me to my next destination. Shopping in NYC would be the pinnacle of all my shopping experiences and the feeling of it is so well captured by Confessions of a Shopaholic‘s Rebecca Bloomwood at the 00:35 mark.

No. 4 – Best Dining in the World

What would a trip to NYC mean without eating a great steak, the best slice of pizza or having the best cosmopolitan drink? There’s so many amazing places to enjoy that a google search can most definitely be overwhelming. Here’s a few sites listing great dining throughout NYC: Just Luxe NYC, Urban Spoon and Zagat listing NYC’s top 100 Restaurants.

Have you visited NYC yet? Please share with us your experience and any recommendations that would help make planning my 2015 Summer Vacay – New York trip a success. K Lo. will most definitely be helping me with suggestions and her experiences from this year’s trip.
